Home...almost

Well, I'm back in the US. I should have kissed the ground. It was such a relief to get through customs and finally be here, American, in America. I love it. I miss Prague already, but I am in no way ready to even begin to think about going back. I am so jetlagged from the trip. It's a 6 hour difference between here and there. Leaving Franfurt at 10am and getting to Atlanta at 2pm seems like a 4 hour flight, but in reality, it was a 9 hour flight. Time zone differences really are a pain in the bum. Somewhere in the Atlantic ocean are floating 5 hours of my life, completely lost to time and its good friend travel. So, I'm exahusted to say the very least. I would do some homework today, but I don't think I can function enough to do that. I may try, I don't have anything due tomorrow, so it's not necessary, but yeah.

I got back to my dorm at 7:30... it was peachy keen let me tell you! I was pooped then and somehow, with 10 hours of sleep. I feel more tired than when I went to bed. I made it to classes today... somehow... but I did go. I fee like I'm in a dream right now, none of this is really happening, I'm still asleep in my bed. I know, I just know that one day I'm gonna wake up and someone will inform me that I've been in a coma for the past 19 years. Just a random thought... that happens when I'm tired, those random thoughts.

But yes, God has definately taught me a lot through this trip. I can't wait to tell all the folks at home about it and get pics developed, when I do I will post them on this site. I can't wait to do that. Like I said, I'm tired. So, now I go to do some work I like to call resting, and then some of that other stuff called homework. We'll see what happens. Thanks for all of your prayers, support, and just reading this. I have been very encouraged to see and know that people are reading this. Check back in a week or so and I should have the pics, or a link to them, on this site.

THE FINAL DAY

Well, i just spent a good 20 minutes writing what I was going to say, and it just got deleted, I will rewrite the final day thing when I get home and have more time to refelct on it :-(.... But everything went well. Just pray for us here and that everyone has a safe trip home.

The re-write is as follows:

Well, it's finally here... the final day in Prague. I have come to love this city and its people. It will be good to get back home, but I will miss this place. Today we were tourists. I did some soveneir shopping and I ate food and stuff. We had a great time.

Tonight we went and ate on a hill that sits opposite of the castle. You can see everything from where we were at. It is a beautiful place to be. That has to be the most expensive meal I have ever, ever eaten. It was more ritzy than going some place for prom. I dressed up for it, but it was funny because, Chris, our leader, was wearing a hoodie, t-shirt, and jeans... Yeah, but still it was great food. After dinner we went outisde and looked over the city and prayed for it. I really do have a heart for these people now. I know how much God has truly had his hand on this city, and I can see that it is only a matter of time before he returns to these people.

In leaving Prauge, I would like people to pray for all the students we talked to over there. The missionaries also need prayer. The need it a lot. Their work is tedious and hard. I know my prayers will be with them.

Well, it is late and I must go now to bed and fall asleep, we leave at 4:30am for the airport. I'm not looking forward to it, but I must leave sometime.

Day 6

Well, it is now day 6... we did our siteseeing and it was fun. I got to see the inside of the cathedral and it is HUGE! It is incredible to see the beautiful architecture and the best stained glass I have seen in my life. Today I was mostly with Daniel and a Czech named Raddik. Raddik is a great guy to hang out with. We got to talk to him about everything (we spent about 7-8 hours with him) from life and love to death and taxes. We discussed it all. He taught us a few Czech slang word, which are very interesting.

That was pretty much my day here in Prague... I love this city...

Day 5

Well, this was the last day of discussions with students at ¨ZEM.¨ It was cool to say the least. I didn´t have the chance to share the gospel as I did the past few nights but I did meet some really cool people. One guy I met looks like my cousin, Seth. That was freaky... from one angle he was a thinner version of my cousin (not that seth is fat, but he was thinner). He had visited the US before with an Austrailian friend he met here in Prague. But that was all cool. We had some interesting discussions.

One really cool thing that happend was that when Gary mentioned ¨atheism¨ everyone turned around and began to focus on what he had said. It was neat to see how that struck everyone´s attention. It would be like saying ¨naked¨ loudly in a public place, people are just naturally curious about things that nobody really talks about. I can only hope and pray that some of them understood what was said and will pursue their questions more by asking Gary questions.

Tomorrow we will tour the city, do some sightseeing, and maybe meet up with some Czechs, but i don´t know for certian. I will be doing some soveneir shopping though... Heh... anyhow, that is that, I must go now and do my devotions and go on to bed. Goodnight and God bless!!!!

Day 4

Well, this is day 4 of the Prague trip. I must say it was fun. We didn´t have to be anywhere until 3 today so we had more time to tour the city than yesterday. I did some shopping... boy it was an experience to try to communicate with people in the market place-especially when they know only a few words in english... but i survived...somehow.

Today´s classes went great. I got to talk with two different groups of students and I had some great conversations with them (you should hear what they do at easter). The night session was even better because I got to talk about Christ with some students. One interesting thing to note is that they are not truly atheistic, they tend to be more agnostic but they call it atheism because they generally believe in no ¨god¨ but they do think there is something. My english is going fast. We have been talking in easier and slower english so that they can understand us. I have talked so much that my jaw is beginning to hurt, but it is just one sacrifice I have to make in the name of God and for the price- I will not argue.

Well, I can´t tell you everything otherwise there would be nothing for me to talk about when I get home, but keep the people I have talked to in you prayers. I hope yall are havin fun there in the States!

Day 3

Well, today things were a little more interesting. We talked with more students and we also talked about some religious things as well, however, i cannot really function right now, I am tired. Anywhoze, we had a late meeting for students who wanted to talk in english (anglicky) so as they could practice their english skills, etc. The teachers have been really receptive and so have the students.

When we talked with them about God most of them do not know what to think after all, I would say that the national (unofficial) religion is Atheism. The best comparison to the type of atheism that is found here is the same as people of the south believe in God- they do it because either their parents do or because that is what everyone else thinks. Pretty sad. Anyhow, I have managed to have some good conversations today, and now I am getting tired, it is late and I must sleep.

Oh, Meagan, I found the chocolate you wanted....yumm.... it might not survive the trip home ;-).

Day 2

Ahoy!

Well, it is now day 2 for me here in Prague. I like what I have seen of the city ths far. Today we got up early and ate breakfast at a MEXICAN place across the street... lol... mexican in the Czech Republic. But hey, they had bacon, eggs, ham, breakfast buritos, and toast. I was good. Hey, dad, if you ever order coffee here make sure to order ¨American Coffee¨, otherwise they serve you espresso-which is good and it helps to get you from having jet lag, but still, it´s espresso. Enough cream makes it good.

Anyhow, the rest of our day we spent at ¨Zen,¨ which is short for the title of the ag. school we were at (it was really long and hard to say). Anyhow, we got to talk to ze students and they were all happy to talk to us. Gary was our leader for the week, and he was also the teacher (the teacher did not show up). We managed to have a good time though. Then we went around canvasing the campus to invite students to come to our night meetings at 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (a good time to be praying for us)-that´s 2pm your time. A typical conversation went someting like either of these:
  • Me: Ahoj! | Them: Caou | Me: Do you speak english? | Them: No | Me: Caou | Them: Ahoj
  • Me: Ahoj! | Them: Caou | Me: Do you speak english? | Them: Yes, a little | Me: (explain night meetings)
  • On the rare occasion I would get: Me: Ahoj! | Them: Caou | Me: Do you speak english? | Them: Ano | Me: Caou | Them: Ahoj (I would turn and leave at this point feeling confused as to why they looked confused when I said bye).
¨Ano¨ Means yes, but they would say the ¨A¨ silently enough to where it sounded like ¨No¨ so i would say goodbye and they would feel very awkward, and so would I. But that is life here in Praha and now I must go to bed so I can have fun and stuff while you sleep!
