The Day Before I Leave

This is the day before I leave... I really should be in bed right now, but I'm not... I'm starting this blog for people who want to know a play-by-play(almost, and without TiVo) documentation of my trips around the world, I will use this first for Prague, and then, as time goes on for other trips as, well, although, they might not all be done the way this one is... To save time for those of you who don't know about my trip i'm going to post most of the letter that I wrote for support so that you can understand a little better of what is going on in my life as of Saturday :-D...

Dear reader,

As you know I am a student at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Since coming to UTC I have become involved with The House, a Presbyterian college group on campus. During the time I have spent with this group I have been encouraged and strengthened in my faith. God has used this time to prepare me for what I now feel he is calling me to do.

This spring break The House will be taking several missions trips to such places as Nicaragua, New York City, the Czech Republic, and Canada. I have desired to go on a mission trip for some time, and when I heard the house was going to the Czech Republic I could not get it off my mind. I felt, and still feel, God calling me to go there.

The trip to the Czech Republic will more specifically be to Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. The Prague team will leave from Atlanta International Airport on March 5th and will arrive in Prague on March 6th. When we get there we will join up with Gary Rickard. He is our contact from Campus Crusade in Prague. He will be taking over most of the leadership once we arrive. Jim and Cindy Hynds are missionaries from Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga that are also serving in Prague; however most of our time will be spent with Gary. We will be helping the local campus ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in their efforts to help take the gospel to Czech university students. English-language conversation is an effective tool in meeting students and in building relationships with them. We will be having times of English discussions at two key universities in Prague: the School of Economics and the Czech Agricultural University, meeting students in classrooms, dorms, or wherever they hang out. The local missionaries say that one of their needs is to make contact with interested students, and that groups of American such as ours can play a vital role in this. After we leave, local staff members will follow up our contacts, enabling the work we began to continue. We will return from Prague on March 13.

I would like to thank you all for your prayers and support of this trip. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you!

*Yawn* I really should get some sleep now...
